MakeLesson ("we", "us", "our") operates the makelesson.com website and application. MakeLesson is operated by Rudenko Rodion Vadimovich, an individual entrepreneur (FOP) registered in Ukraine, at Velozavods'ka 26, apt. 57, Kharkiv 61176, Ukraine. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in through Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Content you create. We store worksheets you create, including HTML content, images, and audio files. Student answers, grades, and comments are also stored.

Payment information. When you purchase a subscription, your payment is processed by our Merchant of Record, Paddle.com. We do not directly collect or store your credit card number or bank details. Paddle collects your name, email, billing address, and payment method to process transactions. See Paddle's Privacy Policy for details.

Usage data. With your consent, we collect usage information such as pages visited, features used, and credit consumption using PostHog (analytics) and Microsoft Clarity (session recordings and heatmaps). These tools use cookies and are only activated after you give consent.

Waitlist information. If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address and optionally your subject area and grade level.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the service
• To process your worksheet creation and editing requests through AI models
• To manage your account and credit balance
• To process payments and subscriptions through Paddle
• To send you service-related communications (invites, account updates)
• To improve the quality of AI-generated worksheets
• With your consent, to analyze usage patterns and improve user experience

3. Payments and Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle is the Merchant of Record for all our paid subscriptions. When you make a purchase, you are contracting directly with Paddle, who handles payment processing, invoicing, sales tax, and refunds.

MakeLesson and Paddle are independent data controllers of the personal data shared during checkout. We share buyer data with Paddle solely for the purposes of order fulfillment, order processing, product support, and fraud prevention. We will not use your payment data for marketing without your explicit opt-in consent.

Paddle may share anonymized transaction data with fraud monitoring platforms to prevent fraudulent activity. Paddle is compliant with SOC 1, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, GDPR, and CCPA. For more information, see Paddle Checkout Buyer Terms.

4. AI Processing

Your worksheet content and editing instructions are sent to third-party AI providers (Google Vertex AI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek) for processing. These providers process data according to their own privacy policies. We do not use your content to train AI models.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Paddle — to process payments and subscriptions (as Merchant of Record)
• AI providers — to process worksheet creation and editing requests
• Analytics providers — PostHog (product analytics) and Microsoft Clarity (session recordings), only with your cookie consent
• Hosting providers — to store and serve your data
• As required by law — if legally obligated to disclose information

6. Cookies and Tracking

Essential cookies. We use cookies that are strictly necessary for authentication, session management, and security. These do not require consent.

Analytics cookies. With your consent, we use:

• PostHog — product analytics to understand feature usage and improve the service. Data is processed in the EU (eu.i.posthog.com).
• Microsoft Clarity — session recordings and heatmaps to understand how users interact with the interface.

Paddle checkout cookies. When you open the Paddle checkout, Paddle sets temporary cookies to facilitate your payment session and prevent fraud.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time via the cookie banner. Analytics tools are not loaded until you provide consent. If you decline, we operate in cookieless mode with no behavioral tracking.

7. Worksheets and Student Data

When you share a worksheet with students, they can view the worksheet content and submit answers. Student submissions are visible only to the teacher who created the worksheet. Public worksheet links are accessible to anyone with the link.

8. Data Retention

Your account data and worksheets are retained as long as your account is active. You can delete individual worksheets at any time. If you wish to delete your account entirely, contact us at the address below.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time
• Object to processing of your data
• Request data portability

11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA. Paddle acts as our service provider for payment processing. We do not sell personal information and do not use personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

12. Children's Privacy

MakeLesson is intended for use by teachers. Students access worksheets through links shared by their teachers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without teacher or parental involvement.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website.
